The team turning fascia science into everyday freedom

Mission

Deliver evidence-based, AI-guided fascia care that’s simple, personalized, and accessible—so anyone can move freely, without stiffness or pain.

Vision

A world where checking your fascia health is as routine and measurable as brushing your teeth, empowering longer, freer, pain-free lives.

Our Origin Story

While practicing fascial-manipulation methods at Stanford, Dr. Tala Khalaf strained her wrist. Ismail, PhD, driven to optimize with machine learning, then said, ‘Let’s automate and scale this!

Founders

Dr. Tala Khalaf, DPT, OMPT, OCS — Co‑Founder & CEO

“I have spent twenty‑five years looking past symptoms to the root cause. When I saw deep  fascia manipulation restores motion in a way no other medical or physical therapy methods can, I knew we had to scale that science beyond the clinic.”

Dr. Tala Khalaf Is a practicing manual orthopedic physical therapist at the Stanford Outpatient Orthopedic Clinic and a faculty mentor for the Stanford Physical Therapy Residency Program. Holding a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute, she has treated complex orthopedic and chronic musculoskeletal cases across leading health systems for over two decades. Her care philosophy, whole‑person, evidence‑first, empowerment‑driven, shapes every TheraFascia protocol. Tala guides clinical validation, regulatory strategy and the company’s patient‑centric culture.

Dr. Ismail Bustany, PhD EECS — Co‑Founder & CTO
“Fascia manipulation ended my own chronic pain. Optimizing this technique and pairing it with AI  was in my DNA to do—so we built the platform I wish had existed years ago.”

A Fellow at AMD and long‑time contributor to IEEE and ACM design‑automation committees, Dr. Ismail Bustany has co‑authored 25+ peer‑reviewed papers on optimization algorithms, machine learning and hardware–software codesign. After experiencing force‑based fascia manipulation firsthand, he spearheaded TheraFascia’s hardware roadmap and 3D fascia‑mapping recommender system, assembling a cross‑functional team of mechanical and software engineers. Ismail oversees IP development, AI architecture and device–app integration.

Alejandra Guillén, BSc Eng, MBA — Chief Operating Officer
“From weaving sensor fibers into fabrics to launching AI wearables, I’ve learned technology only matters when it feels human. TheraFascia lets science meet daily life.”

Alejandra Guillén is an engineer-turned-operator with two decades of bringing connected-health ideas to life. She co-founded Weartech and the mental-stress wearable startup AWEAR, helped pilot remote-monitoring projects at Medtronic Spain, and advanced digital-diagnostics initiatives at Roche. After scaling THREAD’s decentralized-trials platform, Ale now drives strategy, product, and go-to-market for TheraFascia—blending 0→1 scrappiness with medical-grade rigor while championing an athlete-first culture.
