The team turning fascia science into everyday freedom
Mission

Our Origin Story
While practicing fascial-manipulation methods at Stanford, Dr. Tala Khalaf strained her wrist. Ismail, PhD, driven to optimize with machine learning, then said, ‘Let’s automate and scale this!
First hardware concept developed. The adventure starts!
Hardware concept validated; provisional patents filed.
- Wearables veteran Alejandra Guillén joins to scale product and market strategy.
- First app prototype maps 3D fascia zones.
Beta app launches for iOS and Android
Device and app enter pilot production; clinics enroll for early access.
“I constantly see patients regain mobility when all other therapies have failed—our mission is to bottle that science so everyone can benefit, anywhere.” – Dr. Tala Khalaf
“TheraFascia started as our own recovery hack; now it’s a platform blending AI, hardware and human performance.” – Dr. Ismail Bustany
Founders
Dr. Tala Khalaf, DPT, OMPT, OCS — Co‑Founder & CEO
Dr. Tala Khalaf Is a practicing manual orthopedic physical therapist at the Stanford Outpatient Orthopedic Clinic and a faculty mentor for the Stanford Physical Therapy Residency Program. Holding a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute, she has treated complex orthopedic and chronic musculoskeletal cases across leading health systems for over two decades. Her care philosophy, whole‑person, evidence‑first, empowerment‑driven, shapes every TheraFascia protocol. Tala guides clinical validation, regulatory strategy and the company’s patient‑centric culture.
A Fellow at AMD and long‑time contributor to IEEE and ACM design‑automation committees, Dr. Ismail Bustany has co‑authored 25+ peer‑reviewed papers on optimization algorithms, machine learning and hardware–software codesign. After experiencing force‑based fascia manipulation firsthand, he spearheaded TheraFascia’s hardware roadmap and 3D fascia‑mapping recommender system, assembling a cross‑functional team of mechanical and software engineers. Ismail oversees IP development, AI architecture and device–app integration.
Alejandra Guillén is an engineer-turned-operator with two decades of bringing connected-health ideas to life. She co-founded Weartech and the mental-stress wearable startup AWEAR, helped pilot remote-monitoring projects at Medtronic Spain, and advanced digital-diagnostics initiatives at Roche. After scaling THREAD’s decentralized-trials platform, Ale now drives strategy, product, and go-to-market for TheraFascia—blending 0→1 scrappiness with medical-grade rigor while championing an athlete-first culture.
